There is a special brand of people out there who simply love to clean and seem to have a real knack for it, while others of us simply put up with it as one of life’s necessities. Some of the things in your house require a little bit of extra attention, and a gas stove is one of them. Here are a few tips for taking care of your gas stove and keeping it in proper working order.
What you Need to Clean your Gas Stove
Before you undertake the task of getting your stove clean you’ll want to gather all of the cleaning supplies and tools you’ll need to get started.
- Vinegar
- Regular dish soap
- Paper towels
- Small brush (e.g. toothbrush)
- Toothpicks or paper clip
Dismantle
You can disassemble your gas stove into many different components, all of which will need to be cleaned. First things first, fill a dishpan with hot, soapy water. Remove the burners on the stove and put them in the dishpan to soak. You’ll also want to remove the burner caps and the burner heads and clean them independently.
Stovetop
Using a cleaning solution of equal parts vinegar and waters, wipe the stovetop clean. Use a small brush to brush away debris from the burner area and follow behind with a rag to clear away any stains.
Burner Components
All of the burner components will need to be cleaned. Gently wash the burner cap and use a toothpick or paper clip to gently clear the pinholes on the burner head. Place all stove parts back on the stove once everything is clean.
